Gamine - God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlefolk
A new single and video
Hello darlings!
This note is to introduce you to our new Christmas EP. Three tracks of Yuletide cheer coming right up! We even made you a new video!
As you know, Christmas is a time of much merriment, and as you also know, Gamine have built a deserved reputation for exquisite sadness. How could we reconcile these two seemingly irreconcilable concepts? Well, having scoured the canon for a carol in a minor key, it became clear that 'God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen' would do the trick.
When we came to record this new version, we changed the title to 'God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlefolk' , as our marketing department discovered that there are not that many gentlemen left, and we didn't want to leave anyone out.

It was intimate (small) and atmospheric (noisy) and we loved to play there. It became a tradition for us to play there around Christmas time, so on this occasion we thought we'd have a go at a Christmas carol.
It was always our ambition to make something as grandiose as possible, so we hope you enjoy it, but if you want to hear just a piano version, you'll find one on our Bandcamp page - click the link below...
Track 1 will also be available via the usual anti-musician streaming sites in due course, though we recommend Bandcamp, where you can stream or buy the whole EP, and support all your favourite bands directly.
